Proprioceptive Writing® is both a simple Practice that anyone can learn and a
challenging exploration of consciousness.  In the 20  years since they
originated this work, Drs.  Metcalf and Simon and the teachers they trained
have taught this practice to thousands of people from all walks of life.
"Proprioception" is a physiological term for kinesthetic sensation - feelings
that originate in the body's interior.  PW is a method through which inner
intelligence is stimulated;  meaning is approached through feeling.  We take
the emphasis off writing and focus on the experience of inner hearing,
activating the auditory imagination - the key to emotion and the path toward
feeling.

Writing slows us down and stimulates our capacities to think deeply.  Deep
thought opens the floodgates of emotion.  When thought and emotion come into
relationship with each other, our perspectives broaden and we approach
revelation.
